Tape Gems - The Godhead
/By Oscar M. Baker
For those who have trouble with the Godhead, the Lord told His disciples that He could lay down His life and take it up again (John 10:18). And He did! And it tells you here in Acts 2:24 that God raised Him from the dead, “Whom God hath raised up…”. Now how are you going to put that together; if the Lord Jesus Christ wasn’t God, then you’ve got a problem. It says in the very first of John’s Gospel that, “In the beginning was the Word…”, and further down, He created all things, and further, the Word became flesh. [T.F.T. tape, 6-15-86, Acts Series #1.]
Israel’s Purpose
A few folks do realize that Israel was to be a channel of blessing to the nations, that’s true; but that they should be a typical Nation showing forth the methods of God’s dealing with all mankind in all ages, has been seen by very few. So we need to study the Old Testament to see foreshadowing of these things so we may know what God is going to do. [T.F.T. tape, August 1985, God’s Goal Series #3.]
Patience, Longsuffering, With Joyfulness
You don’t have to flare up every time somebody looks at you with a funny look, or says “boo” or something like that. You don’t have to get all stirred up about it. Remember that you aren’t so important, nor am I. And if you can’t take it that way you might take it another way, that nobody is important enough to stir you up. What about taking it that way, Eleanor Roosevelt’s philosophy, that there wasn’t anybody big enough in the world to upset her. Well, you see if you’re in the Lord and the Lord is in you, why oh why should you ever be stirred up, become angry or worried about the things about you? And not only that, but you can have that “…patience and longsuffering with joyfulness”! [T.F.T. tape, 3-16-82, Colossians One.]
A Walk By Faith
Now you may see great difficulties, and mountains, and seas, and so forth in your life; but if you walk by faith you may find they’ll ‘divide’ just as easily as did the Red Sea for the Israelites. [T.F.T. tape, 7-5-83, Steps To A Goal Series.]
John 6:27
“Labour not for the meat that perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you…”. So maybe the priority in life isn’t food. Oh, it’s necessary, sure. But it just seems that if people put their affection on things above, and work in that direction, that somehow or another, the food and clothing and shelter problems are taken care of in some way---if they put first things first! [T.F.T. tape, 4-10-84, Verily, Verily In John’s Gospel.]
